Nothing Wasted. Not Even the Smallest Scrap. That's Rita.
Rita B.K. is the ultimate saver of scraps. Where others might set aside a sliver of fabric too small to use, Rita picks it up. She has an eye for what others overlook — and a patience for the process that is entirely her own.
It begins with the gathering. Rita moves through the Kokroma studio ruthlessly, collecting offcuts of every size and shape. Hundreds of them. Then comes the reimagining: each piece is turned over, considered, and slowly sorted into components — small groupings that feel like they might belong together. These components sit to one side, waiting. Rita doesn't rush. She lets the quilt come to her. And when she begins to see which components belong to which design, she starts to stitch — and a quilt that has been quietly forming in her mind finally takes shape in her hands.
Every quilt is composed entirely from scrap and offcut textiles rescued from the Kokroma studio — pre-washed, soft, and ready to use from day one.
What Makes Rita's Quilts Distinctive
- No scrap too small — hundreds of tiny offcuts find their place in every design
- A patient, meditative process — components gathered, sorted and held until the right quilt calls for them
- The most thorough zero waste of all — every fragment of fabric is given a second life
- Truly one-of-a-kind — 5 designs, each a single piece; when it's gone, it's gone
- Handcrafted in Nepal — by an artisan whose process is as considered as the finished piece
A Rita B.K. quilt is the result of hundreds of small decisions, made slowly, over time. You can feel that care in every stitch.
